Our next meeting is Thursday May 14th when Samantha Hope will tell us all about Hepaticas. She worked alongside John Massey on his Hepatica collection and is a passionate gardener and plantswoman.
This Sunday – April 26th – there is a Flower Power Plant Fair at Sandon Hall from 11 – 3.30. Full details on the Flower Power website. Sorry for the late notice.
May sees our gardens really taking off. The Wisteria comes into flower, filling the garden with its scent, the greenhouse slowly empties as we harden off and plant out all the flowers we have carefully nutured over the cold damp months . . . Or that’s the theory anyway. In the meantime there are gardens opening under the NGS for us to visit and admire including:-
Saturday May 9th Cherry Tree Arboretum, Woore 10.30am – 4pm
Wednesday May 13th Goldstone Hall Gardens, Market Drayton 12 – 5pm
Sunday May 17th Riverside, Market Drayton 1-5pm
Thursday May 21st The Secret Garden, Little Haywood 11am-4pm Saturday
May 30th and Sunday May 31st The Old Dairy House, Trentham Park 1.30-5.30
There are a great many other gardens not too far away in Cheshire and Derbyshire opening in May so be sure to search the NGS website or app to find those (I searched for within 25 miles of Stone). It is also useful for finding gardens open when you are away on holiday.
